Escale Creole
Majo is the chef who reigns over the cooking pots that simmer in the kitchen since the morning. The Creole cuisine served is simple meat or fish dishes prepared with basic elements such as rice, pulses, vegetables and accompanied by chutney. For the sweet touch, an assortment of desserts is available made of fresh products from the restaurant’s tropical garden. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by the hosts with some sweet tropical juice, and treated to local snacks under a large Creole type veranda. Get ready to taste a ‘real manzé lakaz’ (real home-made dish).
You will have the opportunity to experience true Mauritian dishes such as ‘rougaille de saucisses créoles’ (sausage dish), ‘cangraillé de chou et poisson salé’ (cabbage and salted fish dish), ‘traditionnel cari volaille’ (traditional chicken curry) or ‘salmi créole de cerf sauvage’ (deer meat dish).
Some of you may be reluctant to go thinking that since the restaurant serves authentic Mauritian cuisine, the dishes must certainly be hot, but it’s absolutely not spicy. The whole team will help you live a great moment of discovery and relaxation with the hosts providing you details of the background and history of the dishes served. You will also be served a traditional home made rhum which complements the food wonderfully. The beautiful sega music is a nice background music adding to the atmosphere.
