Regular strong winds blowing over the beach make it colder than other Mauritian beaches. Gris Gris is not bordered by protective coral reefs; which is why strong waves crash directly onto the cliffs.
La Roche Qui Pleure is the most famous place on Gris Gris, where waves regularly crash against the cliff edges, creating the impression of a crying cliff. Due to strong currents swimming is not allowed.
There are some food vendors located in the Gris Gris beach parking area, but there are only a few restaurants in the area.
Gris Gris Beach is situated in the south of Mauritius near Souillac, and it is normally included as part of South Tour Excursion.
