I’ve been dining at City Orient for years, and honestly, nothing ever goes wrong with the food or the service. Every time I book two weeks in advance for our family feast—three tables with the Platinum menu—the experience is flawless. The dishes are consistently delicious, the portions generous, and the staff attentive. What I especially appreciate is their thoughtful approach to take‑away: no fussing about boxes or charges. Paper bags are provided free of charge for any unfinished dishes, which makes it easy to enjoy the rest at home. City Orient truly stands out as the best Chinese restaurant in Mauritius. Reliable, welcoming, and always delivering excellence. Highly recommended!
We come here every time we are in Mauritius. The food is delicious and does not disappoint. We've been here for lunch and dinner (but mainly dinner). The only downside are the toilets... Very little room to move, at least one of the few is usually out of service or in desperate need of attention... If they could fix the toilet problem for good, the total customer experience will be complete.
I’ve never once been disappointed with this restaurant. We booked two weeks in advance for a party of 22, spread across two tables, and everything went perfectly. Not a single dish had any faults — the food was beautifully prepared, flavorful without being overly salty, and you could really sense the chef’s confidence in letting the ingredients shine without heavy seasoning. Even the soup was delicately balanced and delicious. The service was smooth and attentive, making our large group feel welcome and well taken care of. The only area I’d suggest for improvement is the toilet facilities, which could use a little upgrade to match the otherwise excellent dining experience. Overall, this place is a gem, and I’ll happily keep coming back!
