Overview

After their historic 2024 performances, the Philharmonia Orchestra returns to Mauritius in February 2026 with an expanded 80th-anniversary festival: bigger forces, broader repertoire, and deeper collaborations with Mauritian artists. At the heart of the program lies Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5: from its electrifying opening to its triumphant finale, performed live by one of the world’s leading orchestras. Beyond those iconic first notes, the symphony unfolds as a 40-minute masterclass in tension, transformation, and symphonic architecture.

This homecoming also celebrates the island’s musical voices: sitarist Arvind C. Bhujun and tablist Neriyen Veerlapin join the Philharmonia alongside the Island Voices Choir and the François-Mitterrand National Conservatory Choir, weaving a dialogue between global symphonic tradition and Mauritian artistry. Expect luminous orchestral color, choral power, and moments of cross-cultural resonance: an unmissable milestone for classical music in Mauritius.
