The tour continues to Mare aux Vacoas Reservoir, which supplies water to the nearby area. Then enter Plaine Champagne Forest, a government-preserved area rich in flora and fauna. During May and June, you may see locals gathering guava ('Goyave de Chine').
At Grand Bassin, view the more than 100-metre statue of Lord Shiva, an important Hindu pilgrimage site. Afterwards, drive to Alexandra Falls viewpoint for mountain and sea views plus a short hike.
