Next, visit Mare aux Vacoas, the largest reservoir on the island, surrounded by tall forest trees. This calm viewpoint is ideal for a quiet moment by the water. Continue to Alexandra Falls to see a waterfall framed by lush valley landscapes.
You will then reach Bassin Blanc, a deep volcanic crater lake with striking dark-blue water. This accessible viewpoint is perfect for photos before driving through a scenic forest route characterized by native vegetation and cooler temperatures.
At Black River Gorges Viewpoint, admire one of the island’s most impressive panoramas, overlooking Mauritius’ largest national park with deep valleys and dramatic mountain scenery.
Driving west, stop at Chamarel Scenic Viewpoint to see the turquoise lagoon, Le Morne Brabant, and Île aux Bénitiers. Around midday, enjoy a Creole set menu lunch at Sugar Restaurant in La Gaulette, which offers a friendly atmosphere and freshly prepared local dishes.
After lunch, follow the coastal road to Macondé Viewpoint, known for its dramatic cliffside bend and ocean views, a popular photo spot on the south coast.
