This full-day tour explores northern and southwestern Mauritius, ideal for nature lovers and cultural enthusiasts.
The itinerary starts with a 9:00 a.m. hotel or designated location pickup. First, visit the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, home to over 500 plant species along with notable monuments and wildlife (entrance tickets not included). Next, stop at Ford Adélaïde Viewpoint for panoramic views.
Discover Port Louis Bazaar and Waterfront, where colorful umbrellas create distinctive scenes. Then, travel to Chamarel Waterfall and the Seven Colored Earth, a unique geological formation featuring red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple, and yellow sand dunes (entrance tickets not included).
Continue to Grand Bassin, also known as Ganga Talao, Mauritius’ most sacred Hindu site. This crater lake is spiritually linked to India’s River Ganges and features temples, shrines, and the large statue of Lord Shiva (Mangal Mahadev). Surrounded by mountains and forest, it is a place of peace and faith. Thousands of pilgrims visit annually during the Maha Shivaratri festival.
Enjoy the west coast’s scenic views overlooking Ile aux Bénitier and Morne Mountain. On request, visit Rhumerie de Chamarel, a premium rum distillery known for agricultural rum made from fresh sugarcane grown locally. Learn about the rum-making process and enjoy tastings (tickets not included).
