Description
Begin the day at Tamarin Bay with a 2.5-hour dolphin encounter. Experienced skippers will accompany you in the water during your swim. Enjoy open sea views of the dolphins before optional snorkeling at the nearby 'Aquarium' site, known for its coral gardens and tropical fish.
Next, visit Trou aux Cerfs, a dormant volcano offering 360-degree panoramic views from 600 meters above sea level. Take a walk around the crater and view Mauritius from above on clear days. Proceed to Mare-aux-Vacoas to see the island's largest reservoir, then continue to Grand Bassin, a sacred crater lake in Hindu culture.
At Grand Bassin, explore the temples and shrines, including the 33-meter Shiva statue (Mangal Mahadev). Observe local wildlife such as monkeys and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Drive through Black River Gorges National Park, Mauritius's largest national park spanning 6,754 hectares. The park hosts unique flora and fauna and offers hiking trails of various levels. Stop at Plaine des Champagnes to view Alexandra Falls. If in season, pick local strawberry or lemon guavas (goyaves de chine) along the way.
End the tour in Chamarel, where you can see the geological formation of the 7-Coloured Earth and visit Chamarel Falls, the island’s well-known waterfall. Meet the resident giant tortoises before returning.
