Description
Le Morne Brabant is a 550-meter mountain in the south-west of Mauritius. Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008, it served as a refuge for freed slaves in the 19th and early 20th century. The trail to the minor summit is easy to follow and offers diverse landscapes. The mountain is home to several endemic species, including the rare Trochetia Boutoniana.
The hike becomes more challenging near the middle with some rock climbing sections. From the peak, visitors are rewarded with 360-degree views of hills, forests, and beaches. This viewpoint is ideal for photography of the Mauritian coastline.
