Le Morne Public Beach – Mauritius We went in excited and knew what to expect… but it still completely blew us away. You think you’ve seen Mauritius at this point — clear water, white sand, all of that — but this is different. The second you step onto Le Morne Public Beach, it just feels bigger. More open. More real. And then there’s Le Morne Brabant just sitting behind you like it owns the place. It’s not just a backdrop — it changes the whole feel of the beach. Proper “wow” moment. The water is unreal. Crystal clear, warm, and so shallow you can just drift about without a care. We spent ages just walking out, floating, doing absolutely nothing… and loving it. What we didn’t expect was the contrast. One side — total calm, barely a soul around us. Look the other way and you’ve got kitesurfers flying across the lagoon, cutting through the wind like it’s nothing. It adds something without ruining the peace. Parking was easy, right by the beach, and we grabbed a spot under the trees which made a huge difference in that heat. Natural shade, no fuss, just set up and relax. There’s no overdone beach club vibe here. No forced luxury. It’s simple, local, and that’s exactly what makes it special. It feels like Mauritius without the filter. We planned a short stop… ended up staying most of the day. 💡 Traveller tip If you want to dial it up a notch and get that serious luxury feel, don’t just settle on the public stretch. Take a 2–3 minute stroll down towards LUX Le Morne and set up in front of the palm trees there. They don’t own the beach, so as long as you’re not on their sunbeds or heading onto the hotel property, you can enjoy that same stretch of sand with a completely different vibe — Le Morne’s natural beauty with that luxury resort backdrop. Best of both worlds. One of those places where even when you think you know what you’re getting — it still delivers more.
Dirty beach and water, little shade available close to the sea. Nothing special as of snorkeling - no fish nor corals to see. Plenty of parking spaces available. There were "showers" where you could get clean water directly through hose pipes. Kiosk selling fruit and coconut water on site.
