Overview

If you’re the kind of traveler who values calm over crowds, birdsong over traffic, and sustainability over spectacle, then Lakaz Chamarel Exclusive Lodge is your perfect hideaway. Set 350 meters above sea level in Mauritius’s lush green heartland, this eco-lodge offers a soul-soothing escape just a short drive from the coast — but a world away from its buzz.
Surrounded by rainforest, mountain peaks, and rich biodiversity, Lakaz feels more like a retreat than a resort. There are just 20 rooms and suites, thoughtfully spaced out within tropical gardens, most with private plunge pools and open-air bathrooms. The architecture blends natural materials with local craftsmanship and international flair — African, Asian, and Mauritian influences all under one thatched roof.
It’s a place where you can start the day with yoga under the trees, hike to a waterfall before lunch, nap by your private pool in the afternoon, and finish with a starlit dinner and a deep sleep in absolute silence.
