“In an age of distraction, nothing can feel more luxurious than paying attention. And in an age of constant movement, nothing is more urgent than sitting still.” Pico Iyer
The relationship between attachment and suffering; or non-attachment and freedom or enlightenment is a philosophy discussed in many religions. In execution, though, it’s often difficult to not be attached to the people we love, the lifestyle we desire, or the possessions which add comfort to our lives. It’s a kind of paradox: on one hand, we’re led to believe that we should be building external worlds to interface with what’s going on inside ourselves in order to reach fulfilment; on the other hand, the more we cling to, the more we stand to lose. This fear of losing what we’re attached to can only manifest in pain and suffering. The corollary of fear, love, is more truly attained by letting go of expectation and unnecessary control. “Consider the trees which allow the birds to perch and fly away without either inviting them to stay or desiring them to never depart. If your heart can be like this, you will be near to The Way” [Zen Saying].
Join us in both movement and stillness for this yang|yin|nidra workshop, which will help us Let Go.
