More about the artists :
RAIN
Rain’s ability to create the perfect amalgam between melody and rhythm has brought-in a new perspective regarding underground music in Mauritius. This Mauritian born underground artist travels into a musical eclecticism that very few can master. Finding the right balance between rich musical elements, Rain’s subtle notoriety has led him to warm up for influential acts such as Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Sonic Union, John Acquaviva; featured alongside Sebastien Leger, Eelke Kleijn, Kiko, Oliver Weiter & many more. His uniquely produced live sets remains a onetime experience, due to its heavily improvised nature using melodic loops & fat drums keeping the essential of a DJ set and giving a different twist to the story with an unconventional live approach.
JULIEN MONASIE
Mauritian musician, Lionel Julien Monasie, is a singer and multi-instrumentalist. An autodidact, he fell in love with music since early teenage, when he participated in different school’s concerts. He started by playing bass guitar and as a singer for his school’s musical representations. Very often considered as a purist by his friends for his passion for jazz, he proved to be quite versatile when he joined Maron’er, a rising band in Mauritius, in 2013, where he plays percussions and clarinet.
